About Laurie Stewart
Laurie Stewart is an attorney, mediator, and event speaker. She earned her J.D. from Chapman University School of Law in Orange, California, and her B.A. from California State University Fullerton.
Trained in conflict coaching, mediation, and arbitration through Peacemaker Ministries™, Laurie provides Christian conciliation services using biblical principles. Christian conciliation is used to settle a wide variety of business, family, and church disputes. Additionally, Laurie teaches seminars to groups on how to resolve conflict biblically.
As a trial attorney, Laurie has defended of religious liberty and traditional values. She has worked with several public interest groups, including Alliance Defense Fund, Pacific Justice Institute, Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, and Center for Individual Freedom. In 2006, she received the C. William Carlson award from Pacific Justice Institute for her “exceptional level of integrity and commitment.” In 2008, Laurie was a guest speaker on the marriage issue at law schools and town hall meetings, and featured in a documentary on the marriage issue called “Marriage Matters to Kids” (www.marriagematterstokids.org)
Laurie and her husband John founded Rolling Stone Ministries, an international organization committed to training Christian leaders and defending the Christian faith. She is a frequent speaker at universities, churches, women’s seminars and conferences. Since 2007, Laurie and John have traveled to Africa, Asia, and the Middle East several times to teach and train leaders.
Laurie has published several articles, including Reviving Religious Liberty in America (2003) 8 Nexus J. Op. 151, which is an historical examination of the First Amendment establishment clause and the original intent of the framers of the United States Constitution. Through Chapman University School of Law, Laurie taught legal research to law students, and supervised summer Blackstone Fellows. Before becoming partner in a law firm with her husband John, Laurie worked as an associate attorney in a mid-sized law firm that specialized in corporate and insurance defense. She has served on the board of the Orange County chapter of the Federalist Society, Orange County Women Lawyers and Marketplace Women of Orange County. She currently sits on the board of Camp Berachah and Rolling Stone Ministries.
Laurie is a former self-proclaimed liberal feminist. Now, she inspires, engages and challenges women to re-evaluate the assumptions and presuppositions thrust upon them by the post-modern culture. Her diversified background includes acting and producing theatre, and training hundreds of consultants as a sales director for a Fortune 500 Company. Laurie and her husband divide their time between Iowa, where she grew up, and California, where their grown daughters live.
